10mg vs 20mg Isotretinoin?

A Doctor put me on 10mg to begin with and see how I react.

I've been on tret and adapalene for 3-4 years before, but I was still getting some pimples.

Does 10mg make sense? I have enough pills for 2 months.
Should I take them for the time being and then go up afterwards or stay on 10mg?

Accutane being an oral retinoid will be much more potent than tret or ada, you should give it some time to see results before trying to double the dose. If you're being put on 10mg, it probably means your acne isn't that bad and will clear up soon, but if they don't see results they will try to up the dose.
It's easier to start from a lower dose to see if side effects are from an overdose or the wrong medication than start at a higher dose with more risks.

Take higher dose, if your asking should you shorten the time cycle dose and do higher dose for shorter time, no. All that matters is total dose, not how high or how long. You can take 20mg for 10 months or 40mg for 5 momhts, you will pretty much have same result

Yes they very often prescribe below normal total cumulative doses, just like what they did to me

Lower doses are around 10-30, Higher doses usually start at 40-50. Yeah most of the time they prescribe lower doses for mild/moderate acne, higher doses are usually for severe cases. The higher your culmative dose is, the less chance of your acne coming back.

20mg Is a low dose, So no not significantly. Going higher would be better for long term effects.
