No, not really altough obviously there will be some cases where it can happen and be a genuine friendship.

The reason it's rare and most of the time doesn't work out is because guys and girls don't really have things in common, how many girls have you met that are into the same stuff as you or your guy friends and can joke in the same manner ? Probably not many, the second argument for which this happens rarely is because both guys and girls mainly befriend others of the opposite sex mainly because they find them relatively attractive and hope that some day they might score in that regard.

Bear in mind I'am talking here about true friendship not to be confused to normie relations, obviously if you are in hs or uni you will hang out with a lot of people regardless of their gender because the friend groups will be mixed but that doesn't necessarily make them your friends. Just my two cents on it.
