Back when I was heavy into online dating, it would take me on average 1-2 weeks to get a new date - I would spend hours each day in chat rooms, dating sites, etc., talk with a lot of girls, get nowhere with most of them, then with some I had good conversations but they didn't want to go on a date, and then I would finally get lucky with a girl that it looked like we had plenty of things in common, arrange a date, and when we finally met a lot of the time she very quiet, would give just one-word answers, didn't ask anything back, etc...

So, if I would have cut the date short, that would have basically meant two weeks of wasted time and another two weeks of grinding just to get another date, so it was pretty obvious that I tried to make the best of it, try talking about different things, try different approaches, maybe something would work - out of dozens of dates, only once I got lucky with this, when after one hour of relatively boring conversation that didn't seem to go anywhere, the girl suggested we go to another bar - I had a drink there, felt more relaxed, my inhibitions lowered and then something magical happened, the conversation became more fluid, we started to flirt, touch, kiss, etc. - I still can't quite explain that weird shift, it's like I stepped in another reality, it only happened once, and never could replicate that with other girls.
