Do braces recess maxilla?

Hey everyone. I have about 5 mm overjet and overbite. I am about to get braces in couple months. I have been face pulling and mewing like crazy and have seen some massive changes in matter of weeks. (But my overbite also got worse). My question is if I get braces to fix my overbite and crooked teeth, will it recess my maxilla and stunt or regress my progress?

Stop pulling your face. Braces don't cause recession, elastics do. Braces just straighten teeth. If you're young enough, you can try the herbst appliance (look it up) or jaw surgery + braces.

Your maxilla protrusion is based on mostly genetics but if you mouth breathed you might not live up to your genetic potential
