How can you stop being a fucking retard? (i.e. bad habits)

I don't get myself. I seriously don't. I am 40 years old so this is probably my VERY VERY last chance to fix my life and I keep doing stuff I don't want to do such as eating unhealthy and letting myself get fat. I am totally 100% sure I want to stop but tomorrow I will think about eating ice cream and I will say to myself: "Well...I can eat it one last time...I will start dieting tomorrow immediately". But it's a fucking lie and I am aware of it even as I do it. So why do I do it? What the fuck is wrong with me? How can I stop this? Seriously...has anyone had the same issue? And how do you stop acting like a fucking retard like I do?

you need big life change with forceful environment. think like military. you can take prescribed medication like methylphenidate along with strictly created agendas for daily routines, getting skills etc.
you just cannot change without stressing yourself to get better.

however, if you are a poor person, you need the government's staff to get along. either you will need a sponsor like in the aa or a really close friend to check you for doing daily progressive actions.

create a list, realistically, containing what you want. like diet, sports. take your adderall/concerta/reboxetin or whatever it is and start doing it in a DIFFERENT environment
same environments making yourself lazier so you cannot change yourself in that place. describe your life better so maybe forum can help you.

Yeah you are right. When I go shopping I must not buy this shit. I can not handle it responsibly when it is in my house. I must do anything to prevent myself from having access to it.

Yeah it doesn't get through my head either. I mean things have gotten much better. I used to live like a fucking addict with maggots crawling around in my place and shit like that. My place is perfectly clean now. It took years to get myself to clean up regularly and I managed to do that. I managed to find a job when I was previously NEET for 10 years. I managed to find friends when I was isolized for 10 years. So I have done a lot from being total trash to being somewhat like a human being. But I still can't control the fucking sugar addiction. I need to remove sugar from my life as much as I can.

Yeah I am doing a lot of that already. I have a daily checklist which helps me to keep the house clean and prepare everything for work etc. I also have goals written down and I am working on it. But how do I create a forceful environment when it comes to food? It is just too available. I would need someone to shut me off from it but I have nobody that could do that for me. How can I force myself not to buy sugar anymore? I lack discipline. That is the main problem. How can I force myself to abide by my own rules 100%?

Since you said I should be in a different environment maybe if I stop eating at home and only eat at work or something. Maybe that would help.

Yeah man I know. This is how crack addicts do it. It's always just one last pipe... Maybe I should make it a rule to not only avoid buying sugar but if I do to throw it away any second I can think clearly.

Tomorrow, do a "dopamine detox"

Do not eat anything or use the internet, watch television, fap, socialize, read etc...

I GUARANTEE this will be one of the hardest things you will have ever done in your life, but that in and of itself is a reflection of just how much the above things control you...

DO NOT lie down and do nothing, the entire point of this method is to allow yourself to reintegrate yourself into being able to actually do the things YOU KNOW you should be doing.

Deal with any immediate problems within the grasp of your control, clean your room, organize your clothing etc...

Now the most important part, Grab a notebook and write down the following things in the most amount of detail you possibly can:

1) What is a realistic goal I can work towards that would genuinely improve my quality of life and self respect.


2) What habits can I implement to better aid my accomplishment of said goal?


3) What are the things I do that make me less likely to become that person, and why do I do them?




Also watch this video, if you truly want to change yourself it shouldn't be too hard to watch a 1 hour lecture.

Atomic habits is a good book, teaches you how to create good habits, stick to them and get rid of negative ones. Obviously discipline and self-control are important too but there’s a plethora of books on those topics as well which are more likely to help you than any aspie here that struggles with the same.
 
You either diet or you burn enough calories to afford eating lots of food. I do the latter, I have a huge apetitte and was fat before training in the gym/doing calisthenics, now I'm muscled but still puffy, which I dont feel bad at all. Maybe this will work for you too.

I agree that a full dopamine detox is a great idea and yeah I will do that tomorrow. I am thinking about deleting Whatsapp too and telling my friends to send me only necessary information via SMS instead and communicate only in real person from now on. I am thinking about getting one of those e-ink phones that can only be used for making calls and sending SMS and nothing else.

I have already done quite a bit. Deleted my massive porn collection. Uninstalled all my games and uninstalled Steam, too. I will sell my Playstation and XBox 360. I have also deleted my Youtube account.

I will try to do more detoxing and report on how it goes. But sugar is my worst addiction. Sugar is the hardest to get rid of. I must go to extremes on this one.
 
throw out all the bad stuff. whenever you crave desert, eat a tbsp of peanut butter. whenever you crave something salty, eat a piece of buttered toast. whenever you crave candy, eat yogurt or fruit.

I've always had good self control but doing this has let me not even think about unhealthy food for like 8 years. straight up enjoy it more than eating cake/chips/whatever

What helps me is visualising how bad sugar is for the health up to the point where i lost complete interest in it. Read up all the negative effects, you're 40 years old, if you don't start caring about your wellbeing now you will be miserable and in pain later on. Your bones are already losing its mass. Are you even aware of that? Start being interested in nutrition and yourself before it's too late. Kind Regards.

I get most of the knowledge from the internet, reading studies or articles. I like Healthline as their articles are reviewed by experts and they cite the studies in their articles. Did you ever get a blood test done? Check what you're deficient in. Get your nutrients, there are good guides on this forum. Eliminate the unhealthy things. Start cooking by yourself. Learn about health foods and their effect on the body. Good luck.

So today I strictly stuck to my diet. I have stopped watching porn for over a week now. I am feeling much better. My brain is capable of getting clear thoughts finally. I will go through with it this time. I will report daily. I know nobody gives a shit but I will do it just so I feel more accountable.
