How do people get thousands of followers on Instagram when they only have 2-3 friends irl?

Im making an IG as its a social resume and non-NT to not have but I never understand why people at my school who werent very popular and didnt have particularly good looks had hundreds or thousands of followers.

Im gonna start from 0 followers and I have 0 IRL friends to ask them to follow me and also giving out my Insta to IRLs while I have 0 followers is giga embarassing

when you post is it like tiktok or youtube or reddit where your post has potential of being uploaded to the explore page and getting a decent amount of views and thus followers (if you are good looking & the pic is NT like going bowling or in front of the eiffel tower), kind of like how on tiktok if you post a video of yourself and your MTN you should get minimum 200 likes and 3K+ views. in other words you dont need to know anyone to get followers?

tiktok is more blackpilled than this forum. before i downloaded tiktok 2 years ago i was bluepilled cuck but seeing how people treated sub5s and even LTN compared to MTN or higher on tiktok comments section was so brutal I became blackpilled.
Good looks = tiktok algorithm WILL put you on everyones for you page and make you go viral even if you make a blank account with 0 followers
