How does one go about researching and contacting surgeons for obscure procedures?

I'm really interested in researching the possibility of getting a subcranial version of OBO that is supposedly much safer to perform than a traditional OBO. How should I even begin looking for surgeons who might be knowledgeable about such an obscure procedure?

Look for papers about the procedure then email the authors. I was doing it for quadrangular Lefort II. It didn't work at all, although one dude did respond to me.

I did some digging around and found a goldmine of posts from a user on jawsurgeryforums, earl25. He went through a nightmarish consultation process until he finally found a doc willing to perform a modified lefort 3. He thankfully posted a bunch of information to help future surgerycels follow in his footsteps of attempting to get obscure procedures. Definitely check out his posts sometime.

I've read some of his posts. I think he finally got the procedure with Dr. Sinn and that he's retired, although he has website. Maybe that he stopped responding to emails. I know he contacted Dr. Keller too, or maybe I'm thinking of another user, but Dr. Keller is also retired. I think you just have to get lucky.

This is the best answer.

Do you mind linking Earl25's threads I haven't been able to find them.

I just searched jawsurgeryforums earl25, the lefort 3 thread is called "I had modified lefort iii", the consult one is "Earl's guide to consults" and he also has a BSSO one on there somewhere
