There should be a study that gets a group of Asians and a group of Whites to each rate a set of Asians and Whites based on physical attractiveness.
We can compare the 2 subject groups’ ratings to determine to what degree ethnic SMV differences are influenced by cultural preferences versus innate physical differences.
If the Asians and the Whites both tend to rate Whites as more attractive than Asians by equal amounts, ethnic SMV differences are due to genetic differences.
If the ratings differ between the 2 subject groups in opposite directions with equal magnitudes — e.g. Asians rate Asians under Whites by 1 point, and Whites rates Whites over Asians by 1 point — ethnic SMV differences are due to cultural preferences.
If the 2 subject groups’ ratings differ and there’s also an overall trend of one race being rated higher than the other — e.g. Asians rate Whites over Asians by 0.5 point, and Whites rate Whites over Asians by 1.5 points — ethnic SMV differences are both due to innate biological traits and cultural preferences.
With this study, we can finally find out what percentage of inter-ethnic SMV differences comes from preferences and what percentage comes from racial genetic differences. Example hypothetical conclusion : SMV differences between Caucasians and East Asians are 75% genetic and 25% cultural.
