When it comes to cameras it makes sense for lens distortion.

Now this might be a retarded take but could be also that some windows in public are ass combined with bad lighting at once making you look like you lack features on the face.

I think this is also due to have big bone mass in one part of your face while the other part lacks it and it’s way more obvious in nature lighting. I lack bone in my jaw

Does lighting effect lens more then irl
definitely, especially if it's a phone camera
they won't capture the right colouring and shading unless it's an expensive DSLR. even then it's a 2D photo with a single frame
faces will always look better irl

So lighting isn’t super important for irl(obviously it still is) but it’s extermly important for selfies then right
