It was always just that. I am surprised how so many did not notice this. Do they really think Peptides, mewing, surgery, roids, hgh and all of these ideas came out of thin air on the internet? When we know very well how this benefits big pharma and other entities in such spaces? If Tate can pay enough to get popular, what makes people not think that the rest of these looksmax terms/popular copes/Methods to become better is not just that? It is always someone getting big from it and getting a lot of wealth out of it.

that's true, but 5% on a population level (and it might be more) is still many people if the dating market is an equilibrium then it doesn't require much change for a large disturbance (equilibrium shift). oh yea, surgery costs will shoot trough the roof, there's very few surgeons doing specialized procedures, it doesn't require very much for demand to overtake supply

Yea I found out about all types of looks theory and obscure surgery (side effect: you start analyzing people's faces in real time, but I'm sure you know), but what does that matter if I can't a. afford it, and b. I'm still living at home

Everything substanial (besides the standard stuff like weightloss and skincare) is years out. Meanwhile your agemates are losing their virginity, going to parties, getting drunk, I was out here discussing which ratios mattered most. I had fun though joking around with people here, but it was pretty much all I did.

But its hard to convince some 15 year old who (in their mind) seems to have struck gold to go away and trust that whatever they were doing before is probably better for them long term. Everyone's gotta figure it out for themselves, I guess

I would say 5% for general improvement is too conservative, for surgery, sure. 0.1% is likewise too conservative, most surgery will be relatively simple and straightforward (rhinoplasty, hair transplant, etc.) not a Le Fort III.

Realistically, most guys if they take it seriously might end up losing some weight, taking care of their skin, fixing up their hair, if ambitious some fillers, with the really ambitious doing rhinoplasty or something. But that's all it takes for most guys to go up 1-2PSL anyway.

When it comes to the more obscure surgery, yea, a very small portion will get it, but if exposure is increased 100x (and it did) even a small portion of that population going ahead (even if its just for a consultation) can easily double demand for these surgeries, inflating prices for these very niche surgeons.

But you're right, dating market dynamics depend more on women than they do men. Honestly, the standards can't go very much higher without some rebound effect anyway.
