Jfl i am German. I just learned English since 3rd grade.
 
In my country you have to buy the physical books from the professors if you want to pass the exams, they make some extra money this way...

It's just that some italian books aren't translated in english or aren't uploaded for free there

I'm considering buying an e-book reader because it seems more comfortable than computer or phone screen:)and unlimited library (atleast in english as we saw!)

yeah, pirated books are practically everywhere in the internet zlib, libgen , imperial library of trantor, torrents etc. Idk why the average person doesn't have a clue about getting pirated books on the internet, they yap about how google is not a credible source but they don't know how vast the internet is lmao.

You can practically find everything on the internet, but still getting a formal education is more important for credibility and the job market.

I get all my uni textbooks free as pdfs online and pirate any books I wanna read off libgen to my kindle.

That sounds great. I read Kindles have an easy way to select and copy wanted sentences into txt or excel file so lazy notetaking is fast, as long as the book is not a non-OCR scan file. Good for language studying as well since Kindles have pretty good dictionary option too:) what Kindle edition do you have? I was recommended Kindle Paperwhite.

Only formal education that's practical and hands-on

Id never enroll in a " Book study" like economics, law or mathematics. Instead i'd enroll in Medicine, dentistry, physics, chemistry, civil/mechanical/electrical engineering where you also benefit from the facilities and equipment there
 
You can learn anything this way but most specialised jobs require you to study a degree in that specific subject to actually have a chance of being hired. You can’t just study an economics course online and then get a job as an economist at a top institution
