Anyone who uses Tretinoin during the day is literally throwing it down the drain.

Following exposure to simulated solar light, a dramatic degradation of tretinoin gel 0.025% was seen across all MED assessment points (MED range from 7.5–30) with a degradation (%LC) ranging from 85 to 90 percent.

Tretinoin cannot be used during the day when the sun is up since it’s not photostable. It degrades the moment UV light touches it, which means you aren’t actually absorbing or yielding any benefit/results from it.

Use it at night, when the sun is down. I had to make this post after seeing so many people talk about using it in their routine in the mornings/afternoon.

This should also apply for all retinoids except Adapalene (Differin).

The brutal part is the fluorescent light from phone and your home light also degrade it, it a study after 2 hours of tret being exposed to fluorescent light, 85% was lost....utter suicidefuel, it means that you need to put tret, and immediately go to sleep, no phone for 1 hour in bed before sleeping

Source?

The same source from op

"86-percent degradation of tretinoin 0.025% formulated as the conventional gel following eight hours of exposure to fluorescent light in vitro. The degradation of tretinoin 0.025% in the conventional gel was greater than 83 percent within two hours."

I apply it in the night time only. Day time I wear sunscreen.
