Is hair loss with Accutane temporary?

Why does it happen and is it temporary? Is there a predictable way to tell if you will shed/bald, maybe any test that can be done?

yes, it's possible but rare.

the mechanism's linked to isotretinoin's effect on hair cycle. Hair cycles are 3 (anagen, catagen, telogen). Isotret can push hair follicles prematurely into telogen phase and fucks it up (hair sheds).

yes it's temporary cuz hair grows back probably around 3-6 months of stopping isotret. (because follicles themselves aren't perma damaged)

im pretty sure there's no test that predicts telogen effluvium, but logically risks should be higher if there's a family history of male pattern baldness or you take higher cumulative doses of isotret.

you gotta see the pros and cons. if having clear skin is better than facing some of those sides, then you should take it.

I see yea I heard some other side effects like joint pain which lowkey sucks

I’m 18 now but acne has severely fucked up my face for majority of puberty and to this day I still get acne. Currently on tret 0.025 and even then I still get acne because my skin has always been oily. Anything I eat too wether in moderation or not gives me acne. I mean it’s not severe now but I still get acne
