Get TransPRK or phakic IOLs. LASIK's recovery is extremely quick but it's garbage because the flap never really adheres properly, making you more prone to blindness after blows to the eye area such as a punch or a mere accident. Short-sighted military avoid LASIK for a reason.

Ignore horror stories though you'll hear them about pretty much anything on the internet.
