Is South Tyrol more italian or german?

When I visited in this one restaurant didn't speak neither a word of german nor english.

I thought South Tyrol was entirely german, didn't seem to be the case.

Seemed way more italian
 
Its austrian not german. And its majority austrian but these fashos Imported italian migrants in 1960 and punished the austrian pop, forcing them to become italianized . 30% are italian mother speaker and 70% german. The more north you go the more german is spoken. The smaller the city/town the more german majority. Bozen and meran are majority italian speaking
