Which is better? latisse or ordinary lash serum???

i wanna grow my eyelashes especially the bottom pair, but ive read that latisse causes pigmination changes on the skin around the eyes.

do you think adding vaseline before application will prevent that or is it just cope. or should i stick to lash serums instead
