Don't even ask the question. The answer is yes, it's priced in. Think Amazon will beat the next earnings? That's already been priced in. You work at the drive thru for Mickey D's and found out that the burgers are made of human meat? Priced in. You think insiders don't already know that? The market is an all powerful, all encompassing being that knows the very inner workings of your subconscious before you were even born. Your very existence was priced in decades ago when the market was valuing Standard Oil's expected future earnings based on population growth that would lead to your birth, what age you would get a car, how many times you would drive your car every week, how many times you take the bus/train, etc. Anything you can think of has already been priced in, even the things you aren't thinking of. You have no original thoughts. Your consciousness is just an illusion, a product of the omniscent market. Free will is a myth. The market sees all, knows all and will be there from the beginning of time until the end of the universe (the market has already priced in the heat death of the universe). So please, before you make a post on wsb asking whether AAPL has priced in earpods 11 sales or whatever, know that it has already been priced in and don't ask such a dumb fucking question again.

i agree with this one. One of my most profitable stock was Berkshire. Should have bought more of it and dont fall for the buy index memes since the fee is extremely low and hodl that.

Same, just gotta wait th cycle out though bhai, remember tech by nature is deflationary, and provided the tech u r in is not a BS scam, it will surpass previous ATH.

Also OP your post is non sensical, market is efficient, and ofc it priced in rate hikes. You may beg to differ on whether it prices in the same number of rate hikes as you, but regardless it prices in th number of rate hikes that the money believes will happen.

Where markets are in efficient are where emotions come in, markets overreact, and as a result players in the market that in theory are more immune to market forces, still end up swaying with the market, when that happens is when u buy/sell

Efficient markets just means that prices reflect (most) known information, so you likely can’t “out smart” the market

ITs not black an white an white, it’s weak moderate or strong efficiency

There’s only evidence of weakish efficiency pretty sure

Enjoying watching my VOO stock tank today. Really enjoyable to see all of the gains from the last three months wiped out 😫

i mean... do u really think theres absolutely zero people who are just talented at picking stocks etc and have made their money not due to luck?

And what if we look at smaller markets. For example sports betting on some niche sport. Theres a good chance that not every factor has been priced in there

Stocks are cope

I always fought my dad about it. It's such a boomer mindset "son u can't outsmart the market, just put your money in a mutual fund and never touch it."

this is wrong/a myth, quant trading is just arbitrage and playing averages for a small % profit. 99.99% of non arbitrage volume is human hand trading. Outperforming diversified "hedge fund porfolios of stocks" means nothing, they arent actively trading, its just following s&p500. Actual active trading funds/family offices outperform x100. also big winner bias, risk of computer glitch Ishigh risk(many exmpls of boomed quant trading firms)

Quant trading isnt just arbitrage it can involve many strategies(even sometimes directional),they earn the most and nearly all of wall street is quant based trading. the best performing funds are nearly all quant based.
you can draw human behaviour traits as a counterpoint many examples of this aswell.
It depends on which market you are looking for the volume but that 99.99% is still made up lol.

I just mean all of "arbitrage" is "quant" and 99% of "quant" is just arbitrage. quant trading is just playing averages to make ~.25% average a day. s&p500 futures, btc futures, oil futures are all controlled by big human inputed orders.

0 reason to compare quant funds to s&p500 divesified long term investment benchmarket funds, the risk profiles / expectations are totally different. You can say a non-s&p500 hedge fund outperformed with hindsight like i can say random crypto coin outpreformed quant funds x10000 :)

Quant = a myth/urban legend

The market may not be efficient but it stays pretty retarded for years and years, so good investments can often take a long time to pay off.
