That's how liberal the world has become.
Islamic foids may still wear a hijab, and pretend they're all modest, reserved and conservative, but they would be labeled unmarriageable sluts if they were teleported to a small Sicilian town in the 1980s. They would be regarded as absolutely scandalous compared to respectable women of the day.
Here are some things that so-called 'traditional' Muslim women routinely get away with today that would earn them a beating from their father, and a bad reputation, in a small Sicilian town circa 1980:
- Driving a car
- Going out alone, unaccompanied by a member of her family
- Wearing makeup
- Wearing a dress above the knee
- Going to sports events (even with family members)
- Smoking
- Wearing heels
- Taking too long to sweep the sidewalk in front of her house. Neighbors would immediately think she's making herself visible for a man to notice her
- Living alone
- Cohabiting with anyone other than her husband
- Going out with her fiancee` alone. This was only done with members of both sides of the family accompanying them
- Singing out loud in public
- Riding a scooter or bicycle
- Not spending enough time doing housework and keeping her residence immaculate
- Talking to a man alone
- Having a "career"
- Wearing a dress that exposed the shoulders
- Taking part in "protests". Lots of middle eastern women are routinely seen doing this now. This would have been considered sordid and dishonorable behavior for a woman in small-town Sicily in the 80s. Only a loutish, uncivilized harpy would dare do this.
- Shaking her hips when walking
- Wearing a 2-piece bikini at the beach
- Kissing her fiancee`. That could wait until marriage, and only in the privacy of their home. No PDAs.
- Drinking alcohol
- Wearing a long skirt, but with a deep slit in the front/side to expose the leg
- Being too 'educated'. Only men and tramps were educated. Women's duty was to be feminine and respectable.
Lots of other things that are too long to list.
