I haven’t done a DNA myself test but my aunt from my mothers side did one

I don’t remember the exact results but it was majority south/Central Asia region ofc (Like 70% or smthing), but what surprised me was the noticeable amount of European (slightly above 10% I think)

There was also some west Asian and a very small amount of East Asian
Yeah that European is likely not from a direct ancestor but the Steppe component that's misread as European, it happens to Jatt Punjabis as well who score like 5% European because of it. She should upload her data file to GEDmatch and then use the HarappaWorld calculator for a more realistic breakdown. East Asian makes sense though since on IllustrativeDNA, some people from your ethnicity get a Siberian component in their breakdowns.

No, I don't think that is the case either. It's more complicated than that, but I have seen Afghans score that, and I'm not talking about Hazaras. The East Siberian component is usually very small but that came from the update. Before the update, Afghans would have Amur River Hunter-Gatherer and I am pretty sure that's where the East Asian comes from.

Ahh
I'm interested in maternal because that's where I'm more likely to get my preferred haplogroups :feelshah:
I was also interested in that, hence why I took the other test. I did it with LivingDNA because it's easier (just a cheek swab test). Their results are not accurate at all, they said I was Sindhi even though I am Punjabi (they let you upload your raw data there for free for analysis, but they will only reveal the largest component and to see the rest, you gotta pay for it lol). But that's maybe because they base their results on PCA plots and I do cluster closer to Sindhis than Punjabis for some reason. :ogre: So just take their results with a grain of salt when it comes to ancestry breakdown. However if you want a super precise subgroup of your haplogroups then you need to do much more expensive tests and I don't think it's worth it to do that.

"Blatantly curry"? Most people don't even realize I'm south Asian until I tell them. For some weird reason. Personally I think I look very Indic though so I'm taken aback by their lack of insight. It's not just white people, but also black and other brown people get it wrong. And when brown people get it wrong, then you know it's really weird. ESPECIALLY when in my own country people can't place me in the correct ethnic group. Lol.
What country is indid?

Hang on! Crooked teeth? They're yellow-y but not crooked. :feelshehe:

Pakistan. The term comes from the Indus river which flows in Pakistan. However the term Indic is applied to languages east from the Indus river.

In the west? MENA mostly. I really don't see it but I get: Moroccan, Turkish, Kurdish, Syrian, Iraqi, Afghan, Iranian. I'd say those are 90% of the guesses I have had, the other 10% is South Asian and then I mostly get Pakistani, although I got Bengali once and Indian five time. These last two are so uncommon that I just remember the amount of times I was mistaken for it, give or take, but I don't remember all the MENA guesses because they are too much. Even in Pakistan they mistake me for different ethnic groups, some people even thought I was Afghan. Just fucking lol, when you are too subhuman that even your own people don't wanna claim you.

Tbh I gather that women like curly hair more than they do straight hair (on men) so it's probably a blessing. :ogre:

Nice results bhai. Do you have relatives with colored hair as well, did you expect that? :feelswhere:
Looking through the pics of my cousins on my mom's side they all seem to have black hair, even my 2nd cousin who has blue eyes has black hair unironically. I don't really have many pics from my dad's side except of my dadima, my dad, and my dadda but they are all old pictures with low resolution. But they look like they have blackish hair. One pic of my daddima from the side kinda looks like she could have brownish hair, but that could obviously just be sunlight.

I was surprised to see it being at 25%, that's why I asked. I thought mine was high but given the fact my relatives on my dad's side have brown hair it seemed to make sense, but if yours don't have it then it's interesting you still scored that high for it. :feelswhere:

Not really. I'd say I am right in the middle, neither dark nor light.
How often do you get height mogged by a women in Netherlands ?

i think all south asians are going score for brunette hair to some degree.

South asians are descended from 3 ancestral populations , abos/aasi who have pretty much all black hair, neolithic iranian farmers who were pretty much dominant brunettes, and steppe aryans who were also pretty much dominant brunettes with some dirty blonde hair/light brunette people as well.

I assume the more aasi dna you have, the higher your black hair percentage is going to be and the lower your brunette and and blondeish percentage is going to be. Since im Hyderabadi Muslim, im unfortunately gonna have more AASI dna in me compared to someone like you, which is why my black hair percentage goes up. But since your literally punjabi potahar and you have lowish aasi (atleast compared to me), while having high neolithic iranian and decent steppe, your brunette hair percentage is going to be higher than mine.

But the funniest shit is that no matter the percentage, darker traits for some reason are still genetically predisposed to being dominant than lighter traits. :lul:

if your eyes are t30 - t10 then that combo mogs blonde hair blue eyes anyways

if you have t50s then thats not ideal

I thought South Asians were supposed to score for black hair mostly, like up to 99% unless you had family members/ancestors with colored hair.

So you are saying these percentages are based on the components that we have rather than our autosomal DNA? That's an interesting take, but I think we need to see more results from different South Asians so we can figure it out. I'm going to run my brother's raw data through it too even though he used a different company than I did. But the results will probably be similar because we share the same genes.

According to the update I have 28.2% AASI DNA, I think that's quite a lot though. :feelswhere:

I got another thread coming up re: genetics and wonder what you have, but already posted like 3 threads today and didn't wanna spam threads so I'll post it tomorrow.

I have T50s but honestly I like them, it reflects the darkness and emptiness that I have inside.
