That smaller company needs the capital for advertisements, expansion, etc. All to just pop on the radar of the avg Normie.

Bigger companies can also afford to lower their prices or outright buy the smaller company that goes down on a different path. Bigger companies use cheap labour in foreign countries and then jack up the price in the west for a maximum return.

They can push the envelope while smaller competition can’t. This is why the phone market for example is a monopoly between Samsung and Apple in the west.

Going back to advertisements, bigger companies have been able to establish their pedigree for the past decade with screen time alone. Apple for example created an entire culture that shames you for using a different device. they were able to make the use of other devices look like a symbol of poverty, etc. All it took was paying off a laundry list of celebrities.

So quality doesn’t matter. How the product is seen matters. Mainstream products have been shown continuously to be cheaply made, easily broken. Quickly obsolete. But the avg Normie doesn’t care, because they’ll tolerate that as long as they feel like they’re following the rest of the herd.

Capitalism and competition are a meme due to human psychology, Period.
