Yoshioka Yuzo, a 62-year-old consul general for Portland’s Consular Office of Japan, was jumped and shoved to the ground by 23-year-old Arissa Robinson. Police found Yuzo bleeding profusely from a head wound; he was treated at the hospital.
Robinson has a criminal history of committing acts of violence against people of Asian descent.
In August of last year, she was arrested after punching a 76-year-old Asian man in the head several times and putting him in a chokehold cutting off his oxygen. She was charged for that attack with strangulation and harassment, but charges were dismissed in January.
A year earlier, she attacked a mother and child, kicking over a baby stroller with a 1-year-old inside. Robinson was arrested in that attack too, but those charges against her were dropped after a judge ruled Robinson unfit to stand trial.
According to court docs, Robinson kicked over the baby stroller, later telling police, “I meant to do it.”
Robinson has now been booked into the county jail on charges of assault and bias crime.
