Ortho gave me a hyrax and after 3mm of expansion shes saying it's done. Her argument was that my lower jaw was too narrow and that making my palate wider would cause my bite to get fucked up (its still pretty narrow though). This means however that ima have to get a tooth extracted which i rlly hate. Can i widen my lower jaw or do i just listen to her.
16 yo btw

I've heard about people getting fucked up by a moneyhungry ortho so I'm double checking
never get teeth extracted for whatever reason. also lower jaw expansion is impossible

Yeah i dont think you're right abt that one bru.

My lower jaw was too short(not narrow) on the right side so it literally wouldnt fit according to her. Her suggestion was tooth extraction and then fill with braces. Only thing im questioning is if i shouldnt just keep on turning
im sorry could you give me an example? i have no idea what youre talking about

NEVER DO THIS, I had this done on one side of my mouth and it has fucked my face forever. my face has become asymmetrical and i regret my decision till date. if you gotta get it done atleast do it on both sides and expand more

ight, and if its absolutely necessary i'll probably extract my 1st premolar and not my upper right lateral incisor (better for midface projection)
remember, never necessary unless its rotting or extremely infected.
and by that logic why not "pull" your molars and premolars back to then "push" your ingrown tooth thingie into the opened space?
im not an ortho obviously so idk if thats correct. and obviously the terminology is wrong, but still. worth thinking about ig.

Yeah i have the same question but i think it might be cuz my maxilla is just too short on that side. Who knows tho maybe i can fix it.
Luckily extracting the 1st premolar isnt as bad as extracting wisdom teeth though

If you got ortho to pallate expand at all that's an achievement so maybe listen idk tbh.
