I'm so tired of the out of blue updates and the bloatware. I hate using windows. Should I switch to linux? I think it'll run much smoother and I'll be able to customize everything. I'm not scared of running commands and in fact I've been feeling like I need a change and I want to learn something new

Personally I don't think it's worth it unless you're pretty tech savvy. When I worked as a programmer they forced me to stop using Windows and learn Arch Linux, which is quite infamous for being especially barebones even for Unix based systems. It was pretty nice but only after like a 2 month learning curve and lots of modifications and trial and error with packages. Linux has always been pretty crap with software support and stuff but it's been getting a lot better, but old games for instance are often out of the question.

I'd say it's worth it only after a significant time investment to learn to the ropes and creating your own little customized user interface, and that you're not going to be using a bunch of old Windows based software.

You can download the distribution that best suits your needs and give it a try using a bootable USB drive.
You've got nothing to lose by giving it a try friend.
