Don't know if that was your intention but the word most people thought about before clicking says much about them.

Thought of "spread your semen" while some users thought of "spread your legs". It's a very biased mind game though depending on what you hear more often.

The brain’s complex; people either unconsciously list something they most commonly hear, some may repeat something they never hear, others say something which could impress/concern others publicly as a social desirability bias. It is a cool experiment whether that was OP’s intention or not, I agree.

Mirin matching energy, I knew this would interest you

I agree it boils down to each individuals varying thought process when exposed to this thread

I think most people fill out the blank with their natural desires first, e.g. with a different base instead of "spread your" (which is rather sexual) it could match the desire for food if formulated some other way

my intention was to make it joybait. i knew that no one would think of "love" and that's why i made it so that it would be a pleasant surprise in order to boost positivity ♥️

although i was also interested in what people would think of instead of love. i knew they'd comment the thing they thought it would be

My point isn’t that they’d reply what they thought, it’s that you unconsciously select this choice based on mostly uncontrollable instincts; some will consciously select the word instead of blurting the first instinctive word out, but the actual hidden psychological experiment is quite interesting.

I studied psychology for two years so I’m probably psych-rotted.

Very true. The nothingness is actually the most sophisticated system in the world. The brain, something we all have and take for granted for literally everything, simple and not, is what causes this; it’s so mysterious and unknown till this day.

So sorry for missing this.

But yes, it really does interest me, this sort of thing. I do think on this site it mostly boils down to social desirability bias (which you’re clever enough to guess its meaning), but generally if you experiment with this enough, you’d hope to find a weak correlation of both extremes. As in, both commonly heard, and never heard would be repeated, likely as much as one another and would take the large portion of the cake.

Psychology is never strong in correlation so merging it with my physics experience is odd. I’m used to systems providing R^2 values of .8 and .9, but .3 and .4 in psychology is seen as pretty good as it means 30%-40% of the dependant variable can be explained by the independent variable tested with.
