Gift giving is an important skill that of gentleman. It shows how well you know someone if you are aware of their likes or dislike, their tastes and is a good way of showing appreciation for their work. It is proof that you pay attention, and that you value the person in front of you

It is a skill that you gain with experience and has helped me make great acquaintances and friends. This is how trust is built, connections that can get you a job/ bail you out of sticky situations and friends that stand by you through the thick and thin are made. It's through thoughtfulness, intention, and appreciation.

Today I bought my girlfriend a bouquet of flowers to thank her for everything she did while I was injured every time she showed up, helped me and stood by me. She turned all red when I gave it to her I could tell from her face how happy and content she felt. I didn't let her effort go unnoticed I'll buy her something special for Christmas.

Gratitude when expressed sincerely and at the right moment is one of the true hallmarks of a gentleman.

You can read the book giftology to understand the idea of Gift giving, if you think giving gifts is useless. Dont listen to any of the fags and kids who will tell you it's low T, cheesy, or old fashioned or whatever. Because as dickens said gentleman with values and principles don't just take they value, and they give back. It's Christmas time. Gift the person you love, the person you value in your life, your family or friend something. However little it may be. From what you can afford. Always be a good human first.

It doesn't have to be anything expensive it just needs to be thoughtful and genuine

I like the thought of giving a puppy dog wrapped up in a box to troll family members I dislike.

I agree. In high school I used to give good teachers gifts at the end of the year so they know I appreciated them (parents money though). When i have enough money I’ll eventually be able to get something of value for my family. Until now it’s just been homemade cards.

I'm thinking of buying my girlfriend a rose/thorn kind of ring, with an around $500 budget. Been saving it for it for a while.

It would be a reference to her favorite band - Guns N' Roses - Do you think it's a good idea?

She's been taking great care of me and has been an amazing person for the entire time I've known her, and i believe something like a teddy bear and chocolates wouldn't cut it to truly show my appreciation.

I'm thinking of inviting her over for a beautiful self-made meal, greet her with flowers and then figure out when to give the ring as a gift later. It might also be a Christmas gift.. But I'll have to think about it. Whatever occasion works for me.

We're only 18 so i don't want it to seem like a backhanded proposal or anything.. Just a simple gift :feelshah:

This isn't too much. It's actually the right kind of meaningful. You're not proposing -you're appreciating. And that hits way harder than any random gift ever could. Just make it clear reminder of us / my appreciation not a forever promise

It works in some cultures but in others this doesn't work, they might think you want something back or trying to establish an obligation. I would never accept anything for free unless it came from family, not even a partner.
