It’s like how greed and lust are sins and most people are greedy and lustful but even more people would be if they weren’t sins.

Why’s it bad for society for there to be more revenge occurring? Because (1) people fight back harder than they got hit and (2) people refuse to surrender and will keep on fighting back. Thus, an act of revenge leads to a chain of re-revenges, each of which is a stronger attack than the previous. Feels good to think that the winner of the “revenge war” is the person who was right at the start, but in reality no one wins and everyone loses.
