Before these acts were passed, women could only work shit low paying jobs and there was no welfare system for them to rely on. This caused women to seek out men that could provide for them. That's why even average men were highly desirable to women back then because women had lower status than men back.

In places like Somalia or Congo, it's still the case that women can't work good jobs and women can't rely on welfare. So men don't struggle in these countries. 95% of men pass on their genes in these countries and women give birth 5 times on average. Due to the acts I mentioned above, only 70% of men in US pass on their genes and births per women is ~1.4 in the US
