Since US citizenship up until very recently was based on birthright citizenship birth tourism was a common phenomenon, especially among Chinese nationals. A significant percentage of Asian voters in the US elections, especially Chinese voters are literal PRC nationals and not naturalized immigrants or US-raised diasporas.

them having a failed expectation model, that is they simply didn't predict the consequences of something they intentionally wrote down, is not problematic in my position. in the same way you could argue the founding father's couldn't have predicted that the 2nd amendment would include machine guns or something, doesn't change the content or the intent when the content was written. also the amendment was added to the constitution along with all the reconstruction amendments and not written by the founding fathers you absolute retard and 30 years after the amendment was passed it was 6-2 ruled in favor that it did include people born to foreign parents. so yeah, just completely retarded take by you.

That clause was meant to ensure the freed slaves would be citizens. Not Jose's crotch goblins.

To do that they could've easily applied it only to the past but they didn't, so in that case that's a point in favor of that not being the exclusive reason. And secondly you could just ensure something by passing a larger principle that you still independently believe in. So in favor of your interpretation we literally have nothing, while in my case we have the standard semantic understanding of: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside," where there is no indication this only applies to a specific timeframe, a specific people, etc

Yeah I agree they didn't look into the future, I already addressed that, you can have a failed prediction or even just not have any prediction of how this will effect the distant future without that compromising the intent when it was written.
