It's weird how much online dating has changed their standards over time. When I first used online dating in 2012 - 2014 I would get enthusiastic responses from below average women as a tall slightly above average looking semi-muscular dude. I also had like a 30%+ response rate from 5/10s and could even land the occasional above average women. I could log in virtually any night, spam out 20 openers, get 7-8 responses and at least two numbers. A number guaranteed a date if I wanted one. Out of maybe 15 women I met up with off POF I slept with 12 of them. One of the ones I didn't sleep with was because she was one of those types who wanted to wait like 10 dates and I wasn't looking for that at the time.

When I came back to online dating after a LTR 8 years later, despite being in better shape, better dressed, with a leaner more attractive face it is so much harder it's unbelievable. I truly don't know how we landed in this absurd reality where 3-4/10s legitimately have as their minimum standard a 6/10 who is their very specific type.

Of course, their minimum standard will never commit to them so it actually ends up making them miserable and single until they are willing to settle for someone somewhere around their looks match.
