Will make 0 difference where u stay. Either a few kms off campus, or in the campus… I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum

Talking to people on your course, flatmates, getting to know their friends, friends of friends. & yeah u can meet people at societies too. The more connections u have, the more invites you’ll get to things/ be a friend’s plus one at a party, etc

I tried to socialise but even on group projects and shit it was pretty much the case that as soon as people were no longer forced to be around me, they'd avoid me.

people drop out of uni or change their mind before term starts you just have to spam the accommodation services thats what I did and managed to get into the most popular accommodation for first year after being given somewhere else initially

You should still be able to find some halls there will be people changing unis dropping out etc . But even if you don’t living off campus with second a third sears will be a slight halo if you do it right they will know people and you’ll be invited to parties with older students who have a bigger network
