90% sure I have this or at least some morphological tendency towards it, I can’t smile with teeth it looks completely collapsed + my lower face height is lacking however I have no deep bite or malocclusion that’s for sure

Ripping off here
The short face syndrome is basically caused by one of four deviations: vertically deficient anterior height of the mandible, retropositioned mandible with pronounced vertical overbite, retropositioning of the maxilla with overclosure of the mandible, or maxillary vertical deficiency and short middle third of the face

My description seems to be best fitted by the 1st or maybe the third description. Add on top of that my very large nose and my face is quite disharmonious, it’s not as obvious on selfies but on distance pics my lower face looks stunted compared to the rest. Is it worth bringing up to a dentist? What should my excuse be say I have jaw pain and can’t smile?

if you have no malocclusion what is a dentist gonna do for you? should see a plastic surgeon

curries are prone to round faces so it may be your pheno. you may need implants that extend the bottom of your entire mandible lower to create more height but idk if it works like that

Genio pasty would work technically in extending the lower third but it wouldn’t change the smile. No doctor would perform bimax on me especially since I have no bite issue or apnea. Some cases use LF1, CFW + downgrafting

non-normal smile upper teeth little show and no gum show, normal occlusion at least no deep bite etc, vertical genio would work but it wouldnt fix the smile
