I have never found a satisfactory definition on any of these forums.

Neither did I, but after a long time assessing pics, the face will look flat like a pancake if the maxilla is retruded. There will also be buggy eyes and nasolabial folds.
My opinion tho...

Where the bones just below your eyes sort of curve back, instead of being straight or curve out slightly
