Personally I think the looks threshold goes like this

Social circle/work/school etc (any environment where you have some rapport with the girls)> online dating > cold approaching

If you’re giga low inhib tho I can see how cold approach could be more fruitful than online in some cases

I don't go for cold-approaches if I don't get an IOI before, made too many bad experiences with that.
