i've been going to the gym almost 5 months actually and I think I was making progress at some point but then I stopped eating protein and took days off too much. Also I think I only managed to get my form right last week so I think i'm still yet to make all my noob gains. Is 500 extra calories per day good? That's just 100g of peanut butter so it's easy to track.If you want to do this natty you really have to dial in the diet. Stop thinking bulk then cut, think maintaining decent body comp while getting stronger. You're gonna have to track calories, ideally track macros too, and eat enough so ur weight goes up SLIGHTLY every week or two. Eating more than that you'll just get fat, less and you'll go nowhere. It's not easy, and tbh isn't worth it for most beyond the newbie gains everyone gets the first couple of months.
Or you can just wing it and waste 5 years in the gym like I did and most people do

Almost have to structure your life around it past the newbie phase, it's why so many turn to the dark side. 500cals over maintenance a day is a little too much. But maintenance is a moving target and different for everyone.
