I don't know, but he seems just like an innocent soul to me, simply a naive man-child who did those things out of morbid curiosity, not because he was evil, you can see in this interview when he's asked why did he kill those people, and he has this adorable reaction, smiling like a naughty kid who was just caught doing something mischievous and he's like "Ooooopssss..."

He reminds me a lot of Michael Jackson, he had almost the exact same reaction when he was asked why did he rape those kids and he's smiling and going "Heee-heee...", they wore both alike Jackson and Ramirez just two big men-children who didn't think they were doing anything wrong.
