Why do I look like shit in selfies?

The bigger the sensor and the lens, the better the photos...Small sensors and lenses tend to accentuate bad features, they might be good for medium or long shots but at close-ups they can make you look weird or ugly. Newer phones have all sorts of automatic features to imitate the look on high-end cameras like DSLRs, they modify the facial proportions, blur the background, smooth the skin, etc., but sometimes the results can look uncanny.

Lens distortion, lighting in the room you’re in , angle ,etc . Mirror is somewhat accurate. At least you should be semi gl in selfies . Just stand up straight chin slightly tucked and hold your phone just above eye level
