I only have some info on pheromones, women consistently chose the males scent with the greatest genetic variety from their own. I think it must be some innate thing to make sure that the genes are spread in a way that allows for new mutations (like blue eyes or blonde hair), and avoids recessive traits (like incest babies webbed feet).
