I am planning to buy a dermaroller, but dont know which one should it be.
Is there really much difference? Is the 1,50mm way better?

I only use 0.5mm, should i use more than that?

Yes. At 0.5mm you'd get little to no results for hair loss. Maybe just by the massaging of the scalp alone you could regrow some baby follicles but for the true dermarolling reults you need at MINIMUM 1.5mm. Although the higher the better. That Dr Pen I linked is one of the few commercial derma products that goes above 1.5mm. I would recommend you buy some hylauronic acid too to rub on the area to stop any bleeding, and extra 42 pin cartidges for it because they do go bad pretty fast.

2.5mm is only for the scalp of course, for the face never use above 1.5mm.

Any studies that support this? I've only ever heard that you shouldn't go above 0.5mm for scalp and thin tissue like under the eyes.

The whole point is to penetrate the scalp. The scalp is not a thin tissue. The deeper you penetrate the more successful your results will be. You have to keep in mind that 2.5mm is not drastically bigger than 0.5mm. They are still both very small needles and with that Dr Pen I have very little pain when doing the 2.5mm. Although a lot of "bleeding", which hylauronic acid stops instantly. If you're not comfortable with 2.5mm you could always go lower, that Dr Pen has every length and is one of the few legit dermarolling produdts that isn't 300 dollars.

This is false. There is no reason to assume deeper dermarolling is better. That is typical brutality bias that is problem with LMSers. "Hurr if it doesn't hurt or bleed it is cope". Not really, if you go too deep it can cause problems, will take too long to heal, etc..

2.5mm is the only length that can reach into the dermis. So you’re wrong.

Most state that your just need the area to be red/inflamed but obviously the deeper you go the more powerful the healing process Will be and thus greater results.

lol no, this is the typical "bigger is better fallacy". If you do once a week then if you go deep week is not enough to heal. The original study with Pajeets doing minox and dermarolling was 1.5 if I'm not mistaken.

how much for face?

Buy derma pen so you can adjust size accordingly.

@samm735 anything over 1 mm boosts collagen production, 0.5 is just for better product absorbtion.

@DarknLost 1.5 mm is enough. 2 mm is very painful

If you use bigger needles you run risk of damage and infection.
