I bought a 3 way expander from bracesshop, the impression comes today. if anyone has bought it I wanted to ask 1. how long it took for them to make it once they recieved the impression 2. how many key turns do you do a month 3. does it come with a lower jaw one? cause I didnt expect it to, but after seeing videos from like 3-4 years ago, it came with a lower jaw expander too. I dont really need one tho.

whats the link for bacesshop? Ive been looking for an expander without a ortho

does the 3 way thing give ccw rotation too?
yeah, it pushes the maxilla forward which is bound to help a few mm, regardless it's beneficial if your palate is fucked up like mine is (I have a tooth above another, fucking brutal)

jfl you're doing this without an orthodontist?

you will fuck yourself up, unless you're literally 12 years old, a device like this will just move and tilt the teeth

yes, obviously it depends on the state of your maturity (from the point of skeletal "hardness"), but I don't think that these types of expanders are used in 15 year olds

but on the other side MSE will work well on a skull this young (but won't produce forward growth)

how? my suture is still open

how? my suture is still open
the sutures in the skull never close, even in late adulthood

but the force required to split them, and create growth in them becomes such, that if a device is not bone anchored (like MSE), but tooth anchored, then the teeth will be moved out of position before even a fraction of a milimeter of skeletal growth is achieved

also, there is no suture for forward growth (sadly), which is why all bone borne expanders only provide lateral growth

1. im 14 2. I had talked to a ortho, he said unless you grow your maxilla forward very very slowly, it will mess up your bite, but if taken carefully, its 100% possible to expand the maxilla forward by a few mm if done along the course of puberty

you don't need to worry about that, because if you did "mess up your bite" in the event you successfully were able to pull your maxilla forward, then you'd end up in a overbite scenario, and could fix it with a BSSO

it's possible that you could move your maxilla forward if you used a reverse headgear with a bone anchor, but this kind of device you posted really is very "weak", and acts purely on the alveolar bone

but you might as well go for it & try it, because even if you were to fuck your teeth up (pull & tilt them out of position), it's nothing that is too difficult to fix with common orthodontics
maybe the movement of the teeth could stimulate some movement on maxilla, you could end up with a wider palate at least

if my teeth do end up being tilted, I could always stop, im planning on taking progress pics which would make it easy to spot anything

it would be better to get an xray/other type of a scan occasionally, since you mentioned you are in conversation with some ortho
maybe they can do intraoral scan for you, afaik that one is quite benign terms of radiation and does not take too long

doesnt reverse headgear work for like 10 year olds and anything older than that youll need lefort?

well yeah, but you never know right
not everyone matures at the same rate, and I don't know if reverse headgear has actually even been studied in older subjects
theoretically it could work, because the sutures don't close, it just becomes harder and harder to stimulate movement

its been a few weeks, im thinking imma just only turn the side keys and use it as an RPE device style (though turning slowly), maybe trying to go for 1mm of forward growth, and if thats is the case I didnt really waste money, its 20$ difference, which is great for 1mm of forward growth (if achieved)
