under-eye area is just as related to maxillary development

though, these relations are way more complicated that we are managing to interpret them. i've had a pretty obvious tear trough since i was fucking 5, and i'm not recessed/have a perfectly developed side profile and a good philtrum:chin length ratio. prominent and wide zygos too. it would always piss me off when i'd get comments about "not sleeping enough" (even from doctors), when it's obviously my facial bone structure that caused it.

I agree, especially infraorbital rim projection but if you have large orbitals then you'll still have a lot of hanging skin under the eyes.
So it's not so simple unfortunately.
Also, genetic discolouration is another occurring problem but this can be solved with laser treatment.
