Intro :
Basically the two main uses for credit cards are to build credit and to get perks from using your money. Id personally suggest everyone get a credit card at 18, sometimes you can get a credit card at 17 and I strongly suggest if your parents have good credit, get them to cosign for you at a young age and start building your credit as soon as possible
Building Credit:
Building your credit is essential to live, you NEED credit to buy large purchases such as a lease, house or car. Having good credit helps you financially when it comes to getting a low percentage down on a home, low interest rates on loans ect. Some jobs even check your credit score when applying. Building credit takes time, and can be a slow process. To get godly credit it will take you YEARS so the earlier you start the better
Perks :
Perks allow you to benefit off of spending your own money, why not get something in return when you purchase things. If your using cash or a debit card MONEY GAINS ARE BEING LEFT ON THE TABLE!
Credit Chart:
Here is a simple chart showing the ranges of credit you can have.
It usually takes a minimum of six months to generate your first credit score
Utilization :
For credit optimization, keep utilization under 30%. OPTIMAL fastest growing credit utilization is under 10% This can be done by increasing credit card limits and paying off your card fast. DO NOT MAX OUT YOUR CARD. bum
On Time Payments :
ALWAYS, at least pay the minimum everytime. Not paying back the money on time will hurt your credit tremendously as well as put you in debt with interest. If you haven't paid on time within 30 days you can call your card company and try to get the missed payment off your record.
Card stacking :
Get multiple cards for specific cash back purchases and simultaneously get your credit up by using mutltiple cards.
Other :
Your overall credit score is the sum of credit on all your credit cards.
