Testosterone is the main male hormone. It’s what your body produces naturally in the testicles and, in smaller amounts, in the adrenal glands. It’s responsible for everything that makes you “masculine” — sex drive, muscle growth, bone density, mood, energy, and even facial structure to some degree.

When you’re young, your T levels are high, which is why you feel strong, lean, horny, and recover fast. As you age, or if your natural production drops, you start feeling the opposite — tired, weaker, softer, and less motivated.

Once released into your bloodstream, testosterone binds to receptors in muscle tissue, bone, and the brain. Inside those cells, it literally turns on genes that increase protein synthesis — that’s how you build muscle. It also helps regulate red blood cell production (which improves endurance), bone density, and mood stability.

Some of it also gets converted into DHT (a stronger androgen) and estradiol (E2) through enzymes in the body. DHT helps with strength, aggression, and libido; estradiol is important for joints and general wellbeing — so both matter in the right balance.

Injectable testosterone has been modified to last for days or weeks in your body. These modified versions of testosterone are called testosterone esters.

Be aware that The ester doesn’t change the effect of the testosterone. Only how fast it kicks in and how long it lasts in your system. Once the ester is cleaved off, it’s all the same hormone. There's a lot of esters but these are the most relevant.

Testosterone boosts muscle growth in several ways:
Increases protein synthesis — you recover faster and rebuild muscle stronger after each workout.
Enhances muscle fiber size — especially Type II (fast-twitch) fibers, which are responsible for explosive strength.
Improves nitrogen retention — your body stays in an anabolic state instead of breaking down muscle.
Increases red blood cell count — better oxygen delivery = better endurance and pumps.
Raises IGF-1 and growth factors — supports connective tissue and overall recovery.
Improves nutrient partitioning — your body uses calories more efficiently toward muscle rather than fat.

That’s why testosterone is considered the base compound in basically every cycle — it’s the hormone everything else builds off. Even with other compounds stacked in, testosterone sets the foundation. Don't take any other steroid without having test as a base.

General effects of injection testosterone are:

Easier time staying lean
More drive, energy, and confidence
Better sleep and libido

Injecting testosterone can have both beneficial and risky effects on your life, including improved energy, libido, and mood, while potentially causing side effects like skin issues, fluid retention, sleep apnea, and serious cardiovascular or prostate issues. The specific effects depend on the individual and dosage, and regular medical monitoring is essential to manage risks.

Study 2:

How often should you inject testosterone? (Test Enanthate)
There's a lot of different ways, but most common options are:
1x a week
2x a week
7x a week

Once per week:
Injecting the full weekly dose at once is simple and requires fewer injections. However, it results in larger fluctuations in testosterone levels, with peaks shortly after injection and troughs just before the next dose.

Twice per week:
Splitting the weekly dose into two injections provides more stable hormone levels and reduces the peak-and-trough effect. This approach balances convenience with improved stability in mood, energy, and performance.

Daily (seven times per week):
Daily microdoses create very stable testosterone levels, minimizing peaks and troughs and potentially reducing side effects. The main drawback is the inconvenience of daily injections and potential local irritation.
