The apartment was silent but for the laboured breathing of Flump. A nickname of course, though he identified with it as much as his birthname of Michael. Friday was always his favourite as he could decide to ignore social invitations without seeming as if he were casting off his friends for something better, it was Saturday that he dreaded when he was in one of his moods. Though this musing was far away from his mind as he threw himself down on the sofa to look for the remote control.
Grasping inside of the gaps between the cushions he failed to notice that Percy's corpse was sprawled out on the floor towards the corner, stiff. The cat was a present from his previous love interest who shared the apartment with him at the time. At this point he was more interested in watching the latest episode of Skaters Get Smoked on the scrying mirror in front of him.
An hour had passed. Flump had made his way through a spliff he rolled in the morning and was thoroughly content with the moving picture on the wall. He finished up and lit another one. Scratching his face he paused to his surprise to find there were now three roaches sticking out of the ashtray. 'I only smoked one, did I not?' he wondered to himself. It was obvious to him that he was more intoxicated than usual and an amnesia was passing over him. Ignoring the feeling, he continued watching the television until blinking and finding himself standing in the kitchen in nothing but his underwear. Blinking again, he was back on the couch though standing on the soft cushions, his genitalia swinging like a pendulum inside of a grandfather clock, seemingly doing an imitation of an orangutan.
The THC was getting to him now. He felt the cortisol streaming through his veins, his heart rapidly increasing as he begun to have 'a bit of a freak out' as he would joke. It was clear this was no ordinary marijuana induced anxiety attack as teleportation is mostly a symptom of psilocybin mushrooms or a couple of tabs of LSD. He was now looking through his eyes in an extraordinary sense. He could see himself looking through his eyes, aware that his eyes were separate from who 'He' was. Up, right, down, left he rotated them around at speed inside his skull, now the opposite direction fully aware he was controlling his eyes. Flump had never encountered this before, being hyper aware of his own physiology like that. As if he were a little man trapped inside the skull of a large automaton. The arms looked far away, his body the length of the statue of liberty, looking down on this little world of his apartment living room.
The dead feline now caught his attention. Gliding his robotic feeling eyes over the room, scanning for life, he found none. 'Michael' said a voice.
'Whose there?' he replied in a shaky panicked tone.
'Over here' it said in his right ear. 'Over there' it said into his left.
'I'm going to get you out' the voice said to Flump before feeling a crack down the top of his skull, pressure releasing like steam through his scalp and all of the orifices of his head. It started peeling away, the skin, the bone and sinew keeping it attached though there was no pain. He felt suddenly free like he had never felt before. Flump had lost control of his arms and legs and all of his body in reality, though he could now move around the room flying from one place to the next. Flump speedily flew back into the living room to be met with his own body, his skull, burst like an orange at the top. His eyes were rotating around in circles and a big smile was on his face as if the expression suggested he had finally cracked his spine after a long day of being hunched over.
