Goals:
I wanted to bulk up with cheap food that tasted great (milk fits these requirements).
My idiotic protocol:
I consumed between 2-3 gallons of milk a day for 3+ years. I began my day consuming milk (because I love its taste). I sipped milk all throughout the day until I went to bed. If I brought a water bottle to class, I would put milk in it. I love milk. I drank milk with my lunch and dinner (usually meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit).
Effect:
Negative: I increasingly felt tired as the years progressed. This culminated in me going to the doctors and testing for pre onset anemia (~15 ng/mL low iron).
Positive: It tastes so nice and makes me happy. I bulked from 65kg to 97kg in 2-3 years and now I have a double chin. At peak milk consumption, I felt strong but tired all the time.
Why?
Pre onset anemia occurred because the calcium and casein in milk undermined my iron absorption from other foods. This was exacerbated by not separating my milk consumption from meat consumption (so I absorbed less iron).
Milk also contains tryptophan which has sedative and anxiolytic-like effects, noticeably contributing to my early day tiredness due to mass milk consumption.
What to do?
Get bloods to check iron indicators (ferritin, iron, TIBC).
Space milk consumption from meat consumption.
When consuming meat, avoid milk consumption and instead choose orange juice to maximize iron absorption.
TL;DR Don't consume milk with meat no matter how much you like it. Drink milk towards the end of the day to avoid sedative effects of tryptophan.

The Consequence of Excessive Consumption of Cow’s Milk: Protein-Losing Enteropathy with Anasarca in the Course of Iron Deficiency Anemia—Case Reports and a Literature Review - PMC
Cow’s milk is a key component of a child’s diet. While the consumption of even trace amounts can result in allergy to its proteins and/or hypolactasia, excessive cow’s milk consumption can result in numerous health complications, including iron ...

Milk Collected at Night Induces Sedative and Anxiolytic-Like Effects and Augments Pentobarbital-Induced Sleeping Behavior in Mice - PMC
Milk has long been known and used to promote sleep. The sleep-promoting effect of milk has been attributed to its psychological associations (i.e., the memory of a mother giving milk at bedtime) and its rich store of sleep-promoting constituents ...

Effect of orange and apple juices on iron absorption in children - PubMed
As children absorb iron well from a meal that includes either orange or apple juice, a preference for apple juice does not pose a concern with regard to the prospect of iron-deficiency anemia, which remains a significant health problem in the United States.
