I just wanna discuss the pros and cons of both and hopefully slim down the choice of which one I should buy. I’ve heard great things for both. I’ve been recommended accutane considering my open pores on my cheeks and heard it will shrink them down and close them up more. Is this true? I’ve also been recommended tretinoin for a fuller firmer look, bc my face has been damaged by the sun to much and hangs down slightly and people say I look older then what I am.

i took accutane prescribed from my dermatologist and it cleared my acne really well. accutane is meant for more serious cystic or nodular acne and as a final effort to clear acne. it works by reducing the oil production on your face by reducing the size of the glands that produce those oils as well with decreased inflammation and a reduction in clogged pores. it's really strong and shouldn't be used if you don't have seriously cystic acne. some side effects that i had when taking accutane was dry skin, dry lips, and more sensitivity to sunlight. (spf is a must especially with accutane) tretinoin is more for mild acne or anti-aging like reducing wrinkles or fine lines from your skin. it increases collagen, increases new cell production, and unclogges pores. it's much less powerful then accutane, so the side effects of severe dryness on your face and lips will be more mild. accutane is so much more powerful that my dermatologist seriously warned to not drink alcohol or too much caffeine because it would worsen by body's dehydration and dryness and can cause damage to my liver. staying hydrated is extra important when on accutane. i hope i was able to help with your decision. you can always feel free to send me a message if you need any more clarification

i really do appreciate all this the main reason I was considering accutane was bc of my pores my bored are opened and have blackhead on my nose that won’t come off. All my other acne has cleared up ever since i switch my diet. I’ll get tretinoin and see how well it suits me for the next couple months. Anything u would recommend to close my open pores?

Tretinoin doesn't treat acne. Accutane is the only effective medication against acne vulgaris.

im glad i could help, having a healthy diet is a good way to maintain healthy skin and it seems that you've already seen the benefits of that, keep it up and you'll see a lot more benefits in the long term. tretinoin alone should help clear your blackheads. in the first two months it's common to experience a purging phase where your blackheads may surface as your treatment is encouraging new cell production. during the third month you should start to notice your skin feeling smoother with fewer blackheads. afterwards, your pores should be refined and breakouts rare. using a cleanser that has salicylic acid could help in breaking down oil in your pores, and help in exfoliating your pores too. niacinamide is useful too if you want to help tighten your pores and and control your skins oil production

Taking accutane is NOT worth it unless you have severe acne
