Doing math seems to improve your quantitative problem-solving skills.

and yes im making this thread because i thought 117 was a good score on the online mensa test before two people showed they got over 130 :feelswhy:

Interesting is there a study on it?
Not that I'm aware of, but I've noticed a measurable improvement in my cognitive abilities when I used to do a lot of math (without using a calculator). Conversely, I've become stupider after I got a smartphone and started relying on it a lot.

Also, notice how Millennials and younger generations get their pronouns and singulars/plurals mixed up a lot when they speak? That's probably due to never doing math ( mental math and with a pen and paper). Even I'm guilty of this now. I used to never mix up my words when I was younger and did math the old-fashioned way. I was much more quick-witted and brighter.

My theory is that activly using the problem solving area in you're brain helps you be more accustomed to it and on the opposite end not using it may cause you're brain to override some of the information you've absorbed in favor for newer stuff. (such as when you finish summer break and you have trouble thinking)

Im Moreso interesting in cognitive function and problem solving.
Oh you mean that. That is genetic. Not much can be done. Maybe playing chess can train your brain to find strategies. I thought you were talking about specific skills like in math

inject vegetable oil thru your ear, make sure the needle is deep in so it can reach the inside of your head.

this will hydrate your brain, making it easier for you to complete tasks and focus.

IQ can be increased but not much. It’s mostly genetic sadly. You can increase your IQ by doing difficult tasks and learning new things that require a lot of thinking.
