Unlike most technologies that compound over years, AI seems to be improving every week. It has been roughly half a year since ChatGPT came out and it has improved significantly since then with its new GPT4 update.
A new experimental application, AutoGPT, can now function without human interaction, as two LLMs (AI models known as Large Language Models) can speak to each other to tackle complex tasks such as planning an entire event, marketing a product, building an entire website, writing a fully fledged article - all by "themselves"
APIs also now allow AI to access apps, meaning people can use AutoGPT not just to plan an event, but to book the venue, book the photographer, etc. - The job of a wedding planner, for example, can be mostly obliterated by this new application. This could create seismic shifts in the very fabric of our economy very soon as millions of jobs could be made redundant.
Nefarious actors will now also be empowered to use complex models to devise new ways to scam people. For example, someone could ask autoGPT to create a bunch of high quality phising websites.
We're on a bullet train to God knows where at this point. It's over.
