*I meant around 2 times more DHA.
Let's compare by equivalent cost.
Cod liver in glass, cooked, costs 800 rubles for 500 grams of liver.
Mackerel and herrings, whole, raw, costs 300 rubles for 500 grams of product.
For 300 rubles, we can get of cod liver, only 187 grams of liver.
DHA in 187 grams of cod liver. 7.3 grams.
DHA in 500 grams of Atlantic mackerel. 7 grams.
Normal Atlantic mackerel has 14 grams of fat.
Alaskan (high latitude Atlantic) mackerel has 26 grams of fat.
Difference is 1.85 times.
DHA in 500 grams of Alaskan herring should be 1.85 times higher, so: 13 grams.
That is 1.7 times more DHA for the same cost.
Vitamins are different.
Vitamin A in 187 grams of cod liver. 1,000 percent of daily need.
Vitamin D in 187 grams of cod liver. 900 percent of daily need.
Vitamin B12 in 187 grams of cod liver. 800 percent of daily need.
Vitamin A in 500 grams of Atlantic mackerel. 30 percent of daily need.
Vitamin D in 500 grams of Atlantic mackerel. 400 percent of daily need.
Vitamin B12 in 500 grams of Atlantic mackerel. 1,800 percent of daily need. (I assume if we eat brain. I eat it)
What is result of comparison?
DHA is higher almost 2 times in fish.
Vitamin A is lower in fish.
If we eat land animal liver, we don't need cooked fish liver, because wild fish is cheaper.
If we do not have land animal liver, maybe we should eat 1 month wild fish, and 1 month cooked cod livers, to get vitamin A and have it accumulated for each second month.
