The mind is composed of the conscious and the unconscious. While we’re primarily aware of the conscious, it is actually the unconscious that dictates most of our actions. The unconscious decides that you will do something, and only after does the conscious mind rationalize a reason you did it.
With that in mind, always remember to NEVER take ANYTHING that ANYONE says to you at face value. For example:
-That girl you’re talking to? She has no idea what she sees in you. She’ll tell you you’re a good guy, a funny guy, whatever, but these are all illusions. You probably just look like her dad or are good at being manipulative.
-Your best friend might say he hangs out with you because you’re a chill funny guy, and that may be partly true…but if you didn’t have something tangible to offer (networking, someone to turn to in a moment of need, etc.) you’d lose him.
-The doctor you see is making decisions based solely on what’s easiest and most profitable for him/her. They’ll tell you X treatment is the best for you, and they may genuinely believe it at the conscious level, but they have their own best interest in mind. (ALWAYS double check whatever your doctor tells you when making medical decisions. This goes for surgerymaxxing as well).
-Your boss will tell you “We’re a family at this company. We value integrity above all else”. Nonsense. They’d drop you at the speed of light if it meant adding 5 quid to their bottom line. Never be loyal to your employer—unless you’re doing so pragmatically because you’re being rewarded monetarily etc (never for the sake of it. They don’t give a shit about you).
-Never count on the government to rescue your ass. Make sure you can take care of yourself because you never know what the world will look like a month or a year from now. Hopefully you have a support network of family and/or close mates that you can fall back on in case of emergency. If you’re counting on the government to take care of you in an emergency you are NGMI.
Friendly reminder. Don’t get caught up in the matrix. Take a step back sometimes and analyze why the people around you are doing the things that they are. It’s seldom for the reason that they claim. Doesn’t mean they’re bad, but it’s human nature to come up with rosy explanations for everything we do. Make sure you see through that shit or you’re gonna get caught with your pants down at some point.
