There are already threads that cover lip width and it's importance in depth, but I didn't see anyone mention lip width to lower face ratio.
.
I saw it mentioned in this study^
This is how it is measured: bottom line length / top line length (*Just to be clear, the bottom line should be on the lips I just placed it lower so that it can be seen.)
This is an example of a 44.5% lip to lower third ratio. The studies claims that 40% is ideal but I will compare this with male models and see.
In this pic of gandy (he's smiling a bit though) the lip width to lower face ratio is 48.9%
Barrett here is at 44.5% despite him having a very wide face.
O'pry has 42% which is why his mouth looks narrow.
Pitt has 41.4% because of his unusually wide jaw.
Carmack, 46%
I think the ideal lip width is surely greater than 40% of the lower face.
I feel like the ideal range is between 42% to 48%.
If you have a wide jaw being in the lower half would be fine, but if you have a narrow jaw it should def be in the higher range.
I may have also not done all the measurements perfectly cuz I wasn't bothered but I'm pretty sure most are within 0.5% correct
